My name is Lakisha T. Tucker and I am a Soldier in the U.S. Army who is currently deployed to Kuwait. My Fiancé Johnnie B. Howard Jr is also a Soldier in the U.S. Army and he is currently deployed to Iraq. We came into the military in February 1999 a week apart from each other and ended up in the same basic training company at Fort Jackson, SC. After basic training we attended Advanced Individual Training (AIT) also at Fort Jackson, SC only two buildings away from one another. We fell in love in AIT and have been together for almost 11 years and on July 16, 2009 he proposed to me and now we and can’t wait to become Husband and Wife. However, because of our deployment schedules and unit missions we are always apart from each other. He has been deployed 12 times since 2000 for periods no shorter than 6 months at a time and the stress that this has put on our relationship has been enormous. I have been moved 8 times since we came into the military to include 6 years of being overseas and we are really ready to be together once and for all. We have been trying to coordinate and make arrangements for our wedding but from over here it’s very hard. We really want to have a great wedding but it has proven to be an almost impossible task. Any help that you could possibly give us would be greatly appreciated.
